Das PDF-Format eignet sich ideal zum Präsentieren und Teilen komplexer Texte, Diagramme, Grafiken und Formulare. Allerdings sind PDF-Dateien oft sehr umfangreich, was wiederum tatsächlich ein K.O.-Kriterium für das Teilen darstellt.
Mit PDF-compress könnt ihr eure PDF-Dateien so optimieren, dass sie nicht mehr Speicherplatz beanspruchen als unbedingt nötig. Je nach Struktur und Inhalt des PDF-Dokuments können Komprimierungsraten von bis zu 95 % erreicht werden. In einem Test mit über 1.000 zufällig ausgewählten PDF-Dateien aus verschiedenen Quellen wurde eine durchschnittliche Komprimierungsrate von fast 50 % erreicht.

Tried this on non-virtual W10 64 Home, worked w/o bugs. Unsurprisingly, there is little size reduction possible with text. Most compression occurs in images and graphics. The more of them and the higher resolution they are, the more the file can shrink. However, at some point loss of image quality becomes noticable, so everyone needs to find their preferred trade-off between size and quality.

Good compromise between compression rate and readability.
It reduced a black/white scan of a A4 page from 629kb to 20kb. Great.
It does not include any OCR components, but hey - it is for free and it does the job good.
Would be even nicer, if the explorer context menu option would compress the selected pdf directly, without showing the program interface first. ;-)
